Tales of Saif al-Malook

The history of this beautiful lake is famous and attracts tourists from all over the world. The story is about a prince, Saif Al-Mulk, who falls in love with a fairy princess, Badi al-Jamal.

The story was adapted into a poem by the Sufi saint and Punjabi Hindu poet Mian Muhammad Bakhsh. The same poem was translated into Urdu by Ahmed Hussain Mujahid, a resident of Balakot. According to the locals, it is a place of legends and demons, who vent their anger during bad weather.

Saif al-Mulk was an Egyptian prince. He had many properties inherited from his ancestors. There were two seals in the treasury. One with the image of Sayyid and the other with Badi al-Jamal.

A storyteller said: “I did’nt see a fairy” but i saw the glory of God, Every month, on the 14th night of the lunar month, the sea is like a mirror – the mountains, the sky, countless shining stars, the moon.” The bright gray of – so quiet, so clear that you can hardly distinguish between ‘reality’ and reflection. It’s a sight to behold! Many a night I’ve seen lights, floating lights, a thousand floating lights, here on the mountain. , where I saw them disappear under the rocks. I did not see the legend of Badi al-Jamal, but I saw the glory of God.

When Saif saw Pari’s picture, he immediately fell in love with her. He then left his home and set out in search of her, a journey that took six years to complete. One day, Saif met Walid on a road in Egypt and gave him Solomon’s hat, telling him that it would take the prince wherever he wanted. The saint told the prince that he would find a fairy in the sea, but that he would have to go through many terrible ordeals and pray to reach her, for she was the queen of the fairies and the prince was a human. The human eye cannot see a god or a fairy, because they are “raised from fire.”

Saif reached the spot and started shouting (ask for 40 consecutive days). Day by day his health was deteriorating but he never gave up and prayed. After praying for 40 consecutive days without food and rest, he became tired and weak. It was the night of the 14th of that month and he thought: “Perhaps I will see him tonight”. Then suddenly he saw the fairy queen with her maids coming towards the sea to bathe. She was very beautiful, with deep black hair and sparkling eyes. He was truly a sight to behold. After talking to Badi al-Jamal, Saif learns that he has been imprisoned in the palace of Koh Qaf Safaid Dev (a white man) for the past 10 years. The big blond also had an interest in fairy tales. After hearing the fairy queen’s story, Saif took her and tried to escape from the valley. When the Great White Man found out, he created a great commotion in the lake, which resulted in the flooding of the Kaghan Valley. They (the fat man and the prince) hid in a graveyard a few kilometers away from Naran, but due to floods Saif and Badi al-Jamal hid in a cave near the sea.

Legend has it that the Lake of Tears in the Kaghan Valley, a few kilometers away from Saif-ul-Malook, was formed by the tears of the white man when he realized that the legend did not exist. According to a popular legend, the fairy prince and queen still live in this cave and dance over the water on the 14th night of every lunar month.
